My hedgehog care and wildlife courses run throughout the year and I have different levels available depending on your experience with hedgehogs. My next dates are listed next to each course below. Learn what to do if you find a sick or injured wild hedgehog and how to care for hedgehogs whilst you find a rescue space. This course is intended to give you some basic practical hedgehog first aid tips to help give the hedgehog the best chance of survival whilst you find specialist help from a hedgehog rescue or vet. We will cover the basic equipment you need and the basics of hedgehog first aid including how to find a hedgehog rescue.

Learn the basic facts about wild hedgehogs and how to help hedgehogs in your garden. This course is aimed at the general public and anyone with an interest in wild hedgehogs. Topics covered include reasons for the decline in wild hedgehogs, hedgehog houses and hedgehog feeding stations, what to feed wild hedgehogs and hedgehog friendly gardening features. We will also talk about planting for hedgehogs, hedgehog night cameras and what to do if you find a hedgehog out in the day.
Helping hedgehogs in Winter: Hibernation Special: Level 1. No experience necessary.

Learn how to help hedgehogs in your garden during Winter and hibernation. This course will cover: What to do if you accidentally disturb a hibernating hedgehog, choosing a hibernation box and where to position it, what to put in your hibernation box, when to provide food for hedgehogs over Winter and how to monitor hedgehogs over Winter. We will also cover when to rescue small hedgehogs found at night when when temperatures plummet.

We will cover the legalities of caring for wild hedgehogs, hygiene when working with wildlife, hedgehog rescue accommodation options, basic hedgehog care and treatments and how to deal with hedgehog emergencies. We will also cover how to prepare wild hedgehogs for release and how and where to release rehabilitated wild hedgehogs.
Advanced wild hedgehog foster care/how to set up a hedgehog rescue. Level 2. Aimed at people with some hedgehog foster care experience.

This advanced version of my popular hedgehog foster care course is aimed at more experienced hedgehog rescuers. This course covers hedgehog parasites and how they are picked up and the basics of microscope use for hedgehog faecal sampling. It covers accommodation options and hygiene when caring for multiple hedgehogs and considerations when setting up a hedgehog rescue including fundraising and charity status.

This course focuses on advanced skills and equipment including wound care and initial cleaning and treatment of abscesses, strimmer injuries and other wounds. We also explore equipment including nebulisers and suction machines. We also discuss limb injuries including the ethics and complications of amputation, an introduction to the uses of hydrotherapy for wild hedgehogs and the ethics and practicalities of keeping disabled hedgehogs in enclosed gardens

All my courses are run online and feature an expert Q&A and the chance to ask questions before, during and after the event. You will receive a copy of the presentation after the event so you can watch it back if you are not able to join the course live.
